THE PATH OF LIFE

Proverbs 4:10-13 10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; And the years of thy life shall be many. 11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. 12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; And when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble. 13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: Keep her; for she is thy life.

This morning I want to talk to you about one of the most repeated promises in Scripture - the promise of long life. Now, I know what some of you are thinking: "Pastor, I know plenty of godly people who died young, and I know plenty of wicked people who lived to be old." And you're absolutely right. This promise, like many promises in Proverbs, is a general principle, not an absolute guarantee for every individual case.
