The World’s Expectations: Offend them with our freedom

Turn to Matt 17:24-27

After I did some work on this message I found out that pastor preached on this in Sunday school but I believe I am looking at this passage in a different way but I won’t go into a lot of detail i’ll just say watch the sunday school message on facebook.

the title of my message is “three who we can offend”

The tax collectors come to Peter and asked if his “Master” Jesus pays tribute. Peter snap response is: YES. Was he going to check with Jesus? Was he just going to give them some money for Jesus, so Jesus didn’t have to worry about it? Maybe in his mind he was going to take the day off, do some fishing, sell the fish and raise the money for tax. We don’t know exactly why Peter didn’t talk to Jesus but the account is written in such a way that there was an expectation that he should bring that information to Jesus but he didn’t.

“Buy the truth, and sell it not”
— Proverbs 23:23
