Candlestick: a Picture of the Church
The church as a candlestick:
I have been reading in revelation and I have noticed a simple illustration that Jesus gives of the church. John sees seven candlesticks which represent seven distinct churches at that time.
Some people like to look at the seven churches as seven different ages of the church. But we also must remember that at the time of John’s writing these were seven literal churches that John sent the book of Revelation too. The reason why we have Revelation in our bible today is because of those churches.
Revelation 1:12
12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
“Buy the truth, and sell it not”— Proverbs 23:23
