Romans 9:9–25

9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.

Promises must be fulfilled. When God makes a promise he is just “looking ahead in the book to tell us how it ends”.

Abraham believed God, it was faith that saved Abraham.

God also wanted to foreshadow what was to come so in the old testament he gave us pictures. He asked men to do things (Abraham offer Isaac) and setup certain situations to give us pictures of Christ. But remember when Moses smote the rock and messed up the picture? We still have a say in what we do.

“Buy the truth, and sell it not”
— Proverbs 23:23
