Introduction

Solomon paints a vivid picture of a man at the end of his life, filled with regret and bitterness. These are the words of someone who rejected godly instruction and now faces the consequences of his foolish choices. To him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

A. Hatred of Instruction

The Hebrew word for "instruction" is musar - discipline, correction, chastisement. This man despised being taught right from wrong. I am going to get angry when someone tries to say I am going in the wrong direction. We need to learn to accept correction and instruction.
