I. When Life Forces Difficult Decisions

A husband does what he knows to do to provide for his family. Sadly it ends in tragedy.

Elimelech faced a severe famine in Bethlehem - ironically, the "house of bread" had no bread. As the head of his household, he felt the weight of responsibility to provide for his wife Naomi and their two sons. The decision to leave the Promised Land and sojourn in Moab seemed practical, even necessary for survival. Yet this choice, made in desperation, would lead to consequences he never imagined. Sometimes our most logical decisions, made apart from seeking God's will, can lead us down paths of unexpected sorrow.
