What we know from this passage:

  • Jesus the True Vine

  • God the Father as the Husbandman (Farmer, Gardener)

  • We are the branches

In the scriptures God gives a lot of parables to explain to us Heavenly truths. There are some functions God reveals to us that God as a farmer works in our Christian life. I did some research on pruning because I myself do not have the greenest thumb. There are three main reasons for pruning.

  • Removing dead wood (It's hard to tell especially in spring before buds.)

  • Formative pruning (To control size, enhance the shape, correct structural defects, preventative maintenance)

“Buy the truth, and sell it not”
— Proverbs 23:23
