Memorial Day 2012: What Will You Be Remembered For?

As we gather on this Memorial Day, we remember those who gave their lives for our freedom. But more importantly, we must consider what kind of spiritual memorial we are building through our daily choices and our relationship with Jesus Christ. The passage before us presents three individuals whose actions created lasting memorials - one of redemption, one of sacrificial devotion, and one of tragic betrayal.

I. Jesus - The Memorial of Redemption (verse 6)

He is in Bethany just days before the betrayal of Judas. Someone said that Bethany was the city of love as Jerusalem was the city of hate (towards Christ). Here we find Christ in the home of "Simon the Leper."
