Last week we looked at the belt of truth - how we need to gird ourselves up with truth, go from relaxed to ready, and have our minds prepared for spiritual battle. Tonight we move to the next piece of armor: the breastplate of righteousness.
Now when we hear the word "righteousness," we might think of imputed righteousness - the righteousness of Christ that is credited to our account when we get saved. And praise God for that! But I don't believe that's what Paul is talking about here. Why? Because we are told to PUT IT ON.
If this were imputed righteousness, we'd already have it. It was given to us at salvation. We don't put that on - God puts that on us the moment we believe. But Paul says to PUT...
