The Perfect Christian

Matthew 5:48

48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

A simple commandment yet seemingly impossible to follow. We have heard the saying nobody is perfect.

We have a misunderstanding of “perfect” In modern English. We think it means sinless perfection. But it means completed, it means lacking nothing, it means finished well.

Per is a word in latin:

Through, by means of, by, thoroughly, during, completely Effective

Fectus: Affective

Facio: To Make, I do, Construct

Like my kids I ask, did you clean your room? They would say yes then I say let me go check to make sure it’s done right make sure it's perfect.

“Buy the truth, and sell it not”
— Proverbs 23:23
