Fruit of Spirit: Longsuffering
This idea may be foreign in this world. But it is a bible lifestyle. It's taught throughout scripture.
The word longsuffering comes from two concepts: long and suffering. It implies enduring hardships, offenses, or provocations with patience and without retaliation. In the Bible, longsuffering is often tied to mercy, self-control, and the willingness to bear with others for their benefit.
Biblical Words:
-
Hebrew (Old Testament): 'erek 'appayim - "long of nostrils," implying slow to anger (e.g., Proverbs 14:29).
-
Greek (New Testament): makrothumia - "long-tempered," the ability to endure discomfort without losing faith or love.
Longsuffering – Greek – the quality of a person who has an opportunity to avenge himself and does not; a person who is slow to get angry-patience
“Buy the truth, and sell it not”— Proverbs 23:23
