THE WEIGHTIER MATTERS: HOW TO RIGHTLY WEIGH SCRIPTURE

Text: Matthew 23:23 "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone."

Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for getting their priorities backwards. They were meticulous about the small things - tithing even their garden herbs - but they completely missed the big things: judgment, mercy, and faith.

Notice Jesus didn't say the small things didn't matter. He said "these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone." The little things matter, but don't miss the weightier matters.

“Buy the truth, and sell it not”
— Proverbs 23:23
