Why isn’t life fair?

Ecclesiastes 9:11

11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

Solomon calls it time and chance. We understand this as sometimes we can be in the right place at the right time and the wrong place at the wrong time. This makes this world an unsettling place to be because anything can happen at any time. It's not just that everything is under your control. In fact we all must realize that though we can train and prepare not every variable is under our control.
