Knowledge
Solomon's real claim to fame is that he desired only wisdom and knowledge for the right reason. When God appeared to Solomon in a dream and offered him anything he desired, the young king could have asked for long life, riches, victory over enemies, or any earthly pleasure. Instead, Solomon recognized his need for divine wisdom to lead God's people effectively. This choice revealed a heart that understood the supreme value of godly knowledge over temporary, worldly gains.
"Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance." This profound truth reminds us that genuine wisdom begins with humility. The more we truly learn, the more we realize how much we don't know. This understanding keeps us teachable and dependent on God's revealed truth rather than our own limited understanding.
“Buy the truth, and sell it not”— Proverbs 23:23
