In Those Days

The phrase "in those days" appears throughout Scripture during times of great difficulty and challenge. We find it referenced seventy-five times in God's Word, often marking periods when giants roamed the earth, when there was no king in Israel, when great armies gathered against God's people, when families faced sickness unto death, when marriages fell apart, and when God's people mourned. Here in Luke chapter 2, we encounter another "in those days" moment - a young woman nine months pregnant, facing the burden of taxation and required travel. Today, we live in our own "those days," and we must learn from how God's people responded to their circumstances with faithfulness and obedience.
