A watch means that time now takes on real meaning - suddenly schedules, appointments, and the passing of moments become significant. The BB-gun represents the ability to defend one's own home, fight one's own wars, and defend country when needed. A bicycle provides the freedom to go anywhere in the world under one's own power. The microscope reveals worlds never known to exist before - examining a hair, cloth, blade of grass, butterfly wing, or grain of salt opens up the invisible realm.
