A slap in the face has historically been one of the most demeaning and insulting acts one person can inflict upon another. It represents not just physical violence, but complete disrespect and contempt for the dignity of another human being. Yet here we see the Son of God, the Creator of the universe, subjected to this humiliating treatment at the hands of His own creation. These religious leaders, who should have recognized their Messiah, instead became His enemies in the most vicious way possible.

The irony is profound - those who claimed to serve God were striking the very face of God incarnate. Their palms, which should have been raised in worship and adoration, were instead ...
