The Spirit of Adoption

Introduction

I once was an outcast, stranger on earth,
A sinner by choice, and an alien by birth;
But I've been adopted, my name's written down,
An heir to a mansion, a robe and a crown.

I'm a child of the King, a child of the King;
With Jesus my Saviour, I'm a child of the King.

Beloved, these words capture one of the most precious truths in all of Scripture - the doctrine of adoption. In a world that tells us we are merely accidents of evolution, products of chance, or victims of circumstance, God's Word declares something far more glorious. Through Jesus Christ, we who were once strangers and aliens have been adopted into the very family of God Himself.
